OSRS Cystal Axe Guide

Cystal Axe Guide OSRS

The Crystal Axe is a specialized item designed for Woodcutting in the game. To create and use it, players must have a Woodcutting level of 71 and have completed the "Song of the Elves" quest. Additionally, a minimum of 50 Agility and 70 Attack is required to wield the crystal axe.

This unique tool shares its special attack with the dragon axe and boasts a 15% increase in efficiency when chopping logs compared to the rune axe. This surpasses the 10% boost provided by the dragon axe, making the crystal axe approximately 4.5% faster than its dragon counterpart.

It's important to note that the crystal axe does not consume charges for specific activities where it provides no additional benefit compared to other axes. These activities include chopping crystal trees in Prifddinas for crystal shards, cutting tendrils in the Tar Swamp or Abyss, handling various tasks during the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup minigame, chopping ents, working with certain obstacles in the Chambers of Xeric, and more.

How to create the Cystal axe

To craft the crystal axe, players can use a singing bowl to combine a dragon axe, 120 crystal shards, and a crystal tool seed. This process requires a Smithing and Crafting level of 76 (boosts can be applied), granting 6,000 experience in both skills. Players who don't meet these requirements can enlist Conwenna or Reese to perform the singing for an additional 60 crystal shards, bringing the total to 180 shards.

Special Attack and Stats

The Crystal Axe comes equipped with a special attack known as "Lumber Up," which it shares with the dragon axe, infernal axe, and 3rd age axe. This special attack provides a visible +3 boost to Woodcutting, effectively raising the Woodcutting level by three. This boost is particularly useful for players with Woodcutting levels between 72 and 75, allowing them to use the special attack to obtain magic logs from a magic tree.

It's worth noting that activating the special attack consumes 100% of the player's special attack energy. However, the special attack cannot be initiated unless the player meets the requirements of level 70 Attack and 50 Agility to wield the crystal axe.

An important consideration is that if the special attack is used to boost Woodcutting levels beyond 99, the game will treat the boosted levels as 99. Consequently, players will experience diminishing returns when using the special attack at Woodcutting levels 97 and 98, with no added value when activating the special attack at level 99. This is an essential factor to keep in mind when deciding when to utilize the Lumber Up special attack for optimal efficiency.

Degradation

The Crystal Axe, like other crystal equipment, has a degradation mechanic. When initially created, it comes with 10,000 charges, and each time the axe is used to chop an item, one charge is depleted. Once all the charges are used up, the crystal axe will still be functional for cutting wood but will act as a regular dragon axe.

Wearing an elven signet (or Celestial signet) while using the crystal axe provides a 10% chance of not consuming charges with each use. This offers players a chance to extend the lifespan of the crystal axe.

To replenish charges for the crystal axe, players can use crystal shards on it. This can be done before the axe becomes inactive as well. Each crystal shard adds 100 charges, and players can load up to a maximum of 20,000 charges.

It's important to note that if a player chooses to dismantle the crystal axe, they will receive the dragon axe and crystal tool seed back, but all the crystal shard charges previously loaded into the axe will be lost. Careful consideration is needed when deciding to dismantle the crystal axe to avoid losing any accumulated charges.
